Gwen, I went down the rabbit hole that you parenthetically offered up and I'm aghast as well….and, unfortunately, not entirely surprised. For so many “middle?” Americans, the ideal American is white and Christian…. It just so happens that my parents immigrated to this country a few hundred years after “their” forefathers but, having been born in a New York hospital, I am a full-blooded American myself, thank you very much!
